In the UK, almost every house has windows that utilize a uPVC window handle. This means that a lot of these will eventually need to be replaced. The window handle may have worn out, or it might have lost all the keys.
You will need some basic tools to replace the window handle of a uPVC window.
A Philips screwdriver or drill, Measuring tape and Utility knife
The Upvc window handle must be removed.
The first thing you need to do is remove the window handle. First, you must remove the cover cap, which will reveal the first screw. Then, turn the handle 90 degrees. You will then see that the second screw has to be taken out as well. The lever will now be able to pull the window away from the frame.
Measuring the window handle is important when it comes to replacing it.
Unlike other types of window handles, the uPVC one requires no special tools to measure its spindle. The square peg protrudes from the bottom, and you can measure its length by looking for sticking points.
Installing a uPVC window handle
Unlike the process of removing one, installing a window handle requires making sure that it's in the same position as the window. You can slide the spindle of the window handle into the hole on the window, and then secure the two screws.
Before you start with the installation of the cover caps, make sure that the handle is working properly.
